PVC window upgrades and double glazing repairs in Southport

We recently completed a comprehensive window installation and repair project at Royal Birkdale Golf Course, one of the most prestigious golf venues in the UK. The works included the installation of new white PVCu windows, replacement of failed double glazed units, and repairs to hinges, handles and locking mechanisms.

This project required careful attention to detail, high-quality workmanship and minimal disruption to the day-to-day running of the venue.

Project Overview

The property required a combination of full window replacements and targeted repairs to restore performance, security and appearance. Over time, even well-installed windows can develop issues such as:

• Misted or failed double glazed units

• Stiff or worn hinges

Our role was to assess each window individually and provide the most practical and cost-effective solution.

Installation of new white PVC windows

Alongside the windows and doors, we replaced the original timber fascia boards with new low-maintenance PVC fascias. Upgrading fascias at the same time as windows and doors offers several benefits:

• Consistent exterior appearance

• Reduced risk of rot or water damage

• Lower long-term maintenance

• Improved roofline protection

This full exterior refresh has dramatically improved both the appearance and durability of the property.

Replacement of failed double glazed units

Several windows had experienced failed seals, resulting in condensation forming between the panes – commonly referred to as “misted” double glazing. Rather than replacing entire frames unnecessarily, we carefully removed and replaced the affected double glazed units. Benefits of replacing misted glass units include:

• Restored clarity

• Improved insulation

• Reduced heat loss

• Cost-effective solution compared to full window replacement

This approach ensures performance is restored without the expense of complete frame removal.

Window hardware repairs & upgrades

The project also included repairing and replacing worn window components, including:

• Hinges

• Handles

• Multi-point locking mechanisms

In high-use environments such as golf clubs, window hardware can wear over time. Replacing faulty components restores smooth operation and enhances security. Where possible, we repaired existing fittings to provide a practical and economical solution.
